Great video and congrats on your engagement! If dividing the volume up over 6 days a week is it still ok to do cardiosthenics and just do easy zone 2 between each set or would that be too fatiguing to do daily? Also, when doing 6x a week are we still taking every set everyday to technical failure? Would that interfere with recovery?
Hey Greg, a proper real answer would depend on all kinds of different factors... So, if you don't mind answering, let's start with some basics and I'll see what tips I can give you... 1) How old are you? 2) Average sleep per night? 3) Average stress levels (from 1-10) 4) Training experience (little overview of how long you've been training what have you been doing)
@@BodyweightMuscle Thanks man, I’m 38, I sleep 6-7 hours (varies because I have a newborn), stress levels are on the higher side due to working a lot and a stressful job plus having a child, I’ve been training since my teens but overtrained a lot in my 20’s and had to stop training for a while because I burnt out badly due to bad form and constantly pushing too hard. I’m older and wiser now and want to be fit for life the sustainable way as you promote so I can be healthy and fit for my family. Thanks man!
@@gregbattaglia4887 Hey Greg, thanks for your detailed response! Based on what you told me, I'll give you two approaches that you can pick from, depending on what you want to achieve. A) I would recommend splitting your training into 3 strength workouts and 2 zone two cardio sessions if you want to maintain a good cardiovascular condition but make faster progress with strength, and overall feel better. If you want to stay active on your rest days, you can focus on big walks. B) I would recommend splitting your training into 2 strength workouts and 3-4 zone 2 cardio sessions if you want to focus more on cardiovascular conditioning and maintain a good strength level (making slower progress over time) Anything more than that will be counterproductive for your body. I think you'll be surprised with how much progress you can make with plan A). It's the plan I'd start you with if you want to optimize your overall health. More is not always better, and sometimes you can be surprised of what is possible with less but smarter work :) 💪🏼 P.S. Cardiosthenics is a great way to train if your recovery, sleep, stress and all that are at optimum levels, but not that ideal for busy tired dads.

I hate to ask you a million questions but I just have one more question if you don’t mind. What are your thoughts on daily submaximal training? I know you’re a big fan of Dan John and he created Easy Strength which is essentially high frequency sub max training. It really appeals to me because it allows the creation of a daily habit. Kboges is also a big proponent of this method and does calisthenics daily and just avoids going to failure so he can return the next day and train again. I find it a really appealing method and was wondering what your thoughts are on that. Thanks man!

You layed out the plan very well. Small steps and consistency are absolutely key. Maybe it is not such fun as goggins-it-all-in-mofos but small but consistent workouts can surely work wonders! And thank you Anthony, because I've been doing it since 2017 with the much needed help from your books.

Finishing the final 6 weeks of a program. Workouts are circuit based and exercise somewhat overcomplicated. Looking forward to returning to a more linnear workout with those "mundane" exercises.

Hey B, IF it's a useful tool for those who enjoy bigger meals and eating less frequently but has no other magical properties. OMAD it's probably one of the worst ways to eat not only if performance and building muscle is important for you, but also if you struggle things such as binge eating.

@@BodyweightMuscle just asking, I already spend $200 something for another program. I just need to hit a proper weight before I get myself doing some serious calisthenics. 209lbs when started, down to 204lbs. Was using your method and mix of others. Thanks to your book, if I knew you had a real program I would have begun with you. How I am losing my weight, no junk, snacking or even eating before 12pm and anything after 8pm. Your Greek yogurt with honey and other toppings was an excellent idea when I crave something. Anyway, keep doing what you guys are doing.

This hits home for sure Anthony. Recently I’ve had a slight shoulder injury from weightlifting. Almost weekly I’ve changed my routine up and that was the result. Ultimately I am going back to bodyweight exercise once the shoulder heals. I’ll still do some weights for the lower body. But in over a decade of bodyweight training I had not one injury and just can’t afford to be hurt from training. I appreciate your content as it has always hit home with me. 🤙🏼💪🏼

15 clean pull-ups is quite advanced already!
True, but most people can get there in a year with a simple, minimal and focused plan
@@BodyweightMuscle possibly, I started with around 6 chinups and 2 pullups. Half a year later 14/10, unfortunately my progress came to a halt with elbow/biceps/shoulder tendon injury. Just did too much volume in the start (5-6 push/pull split), I guess with 46 I should have taken more rest. But I learned a few lessons and want to do more functional stuff instead of weights. Thanks for the video btw.
@philippeberini2574 how does your warm up look before doing pull ups?
@@BodyweightMuscle before I was doing a few arm circles and some scapular pull ups. Now I am taking more time, slow controlled shoulder cars and arm circles, rotator activation in 2-3 positions, passive and active hangs (slow scap pullups with hold). Sometimes I incorporate some warm up moves "stolen" from animal flow. Maybe some assisted pullups (with bands) would be a good idea too.

Eating vegetables daily, especially green peppers cure and prevents any issues with your joints, doesn’t matter the age. You will notice problems with your joints disappear.
I need to improve FAST on this. This is the monthly challenge at my gym, currently 1min 7 secs by a rock climber. I can do 10 secs max
Alternate between single and double arm from day to day for better results
The quality of the videos including context, advice, presentation is top class. Highly recommend following a personal plan with Anthony, follow his advice, and even small steps will get you to significant and mostly sustainable progress. Speaking by experience!

Since I joined the program I realized that everything in life has tradeoffs and when you priorize yourself and things that are important to you it's a no-brainer decision to let bad habits go. Understanding the basics that makes you move forward spills all over other areas of your life. btw, love the "keep on training" mug!
I've tried all sorts of programs & failed to make progress because I'd go looking for the thing that's flashy & new that no one else is doing so it feels special. Now I just stick to the basics & try to get really good at just pull ups, push ups & squats etc. I feel like I'm making more progress, less stressed & have more time for other things.
I take the exact same approach! It really does work as long as you stay consistent
